This view of the Kelleher Rose Garden in the Fens took artist liberty with the fountain in the center of the circular garden to paint a capriccio. When this was painted the original fountain that was designed as the centerpiece of the rose garden had been inoperable for a number of years. The original ground basin was in place but with no water the garden lacked its central focus. The watercolor imagined two tiered stepped bowls on a circular pedestal base with water cascading into the basin. The rose garden was designed in 1931 by Arthur Shurcliff as an addition to the park originally designed by Frederick Law Olmsted. The Emerald Necklace Conservancy spearheaded the restoration of the rose garden.  The redesign of the fountain completed in 2013 takes the form of the original single center jet of water, a delightful addition to the garden.
